Overleveraging Rule

2 min. readlast update: 06.26.2025

We promote responsible trading practices.

Over-leveraging by risking your entire available margin on a single trade idea — whether as one large trade or multiple positions on the same symbol at the same time — is strictly prohibited.

This typically leads to your Margin Level dropping to 150% or lower, which triggers a Margin Call and exposes your account to unnecessary risk of rapid depletion.

This is considered improper use of leverage, as it goes against CTI’s core principle of trading sustainability and capital protection.

Example Violation: Opening a position so large that your Margin Level falls to 140%, as shown in the screenshot, indicates that you’ve risked your entire margin on one trade idea. This is not effective margin usage — it’s gambling.

At CTI, we believe in fairness and recognise that mistakes can occur, especially in fast-paced markets. That’s why we give all traders room for error when it comes to the 150% margin level requirement.

This rule is in place to encourage responsible risk management and protect both the trader and the firm from excessive exposure.

🔷 If You Stay Within the Rules

If less than 10% of your trades violate the 150% margin level requirement, or less than 10% of your total net profit comes from trades that breached 150% margin level:

  • No violation will be recorded on your account, and you will pass.

🔷 If You Exceed the Limit (10% or More)

If 10% or more of your trades violate the 150% margin level requirement, or more than 10% of your total net profit comes from trades that breached the 150% margin level:

  • You will be granted one free retry.

  • You will be notified of the violation and given a chance to correct it.

🔷 If the Rule Is Violated Again

Continued violations of this rule will lead to strict enforcement, including:

  • Immediate termination of the funded account.

  • Rejection of any payout or account upgrade requests.

  • A formal warning, depending on your history of violations.
